Service Industeries Limited SIL) Commitment Towards CSR

The goal of CSR at Service Industries Limited is to embrace responsibility for its actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of public sphere. We do this by deliberate inclusion of public interest into corporate decision making and the honoring of a triple bottom line: People, Planet and Profit.

SIL Practices CSR through the followings:

01. Occupational Safety and Health

Health and safety of our employees is our foremost concern. SIL is committed to health and safety practices and work environments that enable our people to work freely and free of injury and illness. To achieve this, we ensure that operations exceed the applicable occupational health and safety regulations which include, but are not restricted to, Provision of clean and healthy work environment and specialized apparatus to our employees. Our health and safety policies have provided us with millions of man hours without any accident.

02. Environmental Protection Measures

SIL employees are encouraged to protect the environment by employing low pollution practices and procedures for the work. Pollution due to waste products including gases, solid and liquid is eliminated through proper disposal.

03. Energy Conservation

At SIL we have taken various steps to conserve energy like switching off all air conditioners and other electrical equipment during lunch break, restricted use of electric & gas heaters and replacement of electric bulbs with energy savers. In addition a team comprising of qualified engineers has been assigned the task of identifying areas where energy efficient technologies can be introduced.

04. Flood Relief Operations

The Year 2010 bought one of the biggest environmental disasters in Pakistan’s history. Unprecedented floods caused havoc in areas adjoining the river Indus. At the crucial moment, SIL rose to the needs of the nation and made its contribution both in cash and in kind. Donation was made to the “Chief minister’s Flood Relief Fund” and company and its employees participated in Pakistan Air force’s flood relief operations in district Rajanpur and Layyah. Some of the activities include:

• Establishment of Medical Camps.

• Provision of 25 tons of food items amongst the most deserving families.

• Distribution of tents and cash donations.

• Reconstruction of Hundred houses along with provision of household.

• Provision of seeds and Fertilizers.

• Construction of Mosques & Schools

05. Corporate Philanthropy

Company is actively involved in corporate philanthropy, Welfare spending for under privilege class, Community investment and Welfare Schemes. Under these heads, SIL runs schools in Gujarat & Lahore, Old people home and free dispensary. In addition to these a sum of Rs. 9.90 million is invested in various charitable activities during the year.

06. Consumer Protection Measures

"Customer First" is the policy adopted by SIL. Our fair business practices ensure providing Quality Products at competitive prices with after sales warranties.

07. Industrial Relations

The company enjoys a good relationship between its management and employees.

08. Employment of Special Persons

We have always encouraged the employment of special persons. Presently various special persons are serving in a variety of roles in the company.

09. Business Ethics and Anti-corruption Measures

SIL has always enjoyed a very good reputation of conducting its business at the height level of business ethics. We are committed to conduct our business activity with honesty, and in full compliance with the laws and regulation of the state, the same is expected of our employees. A “statement of Ethics & Business Practices” has been duly approved by the Board which is signed by each employee at the beginning of the year.

10. Contribution to National Exchequer

A true patriotic, Service Industries Limited is a major contributor to the National Exchequer in terms of corporate income tax and other levies. All government taxes are paid in time and the company has a history of not defaulting in payment of government dues. During the year, the company paid 386.71 millions in the form of corporate taxes.
